My name is Blair Mueller.

Even though I have critical congenital heart disease, four open heart surgeries, three pacemakers, and two mechanical values—I’ve never let that stop me.

Growing up, I was aware that books did not feature characters like me.

Very rarely did I come across a character with a crippled limb, and when I did it was either to prescribe a moral lesson, to imply a character flaw, or to inspire pity for that person.

It was rarer to see anyone with cardiac issues, let alone a young person. The characters were always elderly or not long for the world.

Given my deep love for history, academia, and travel, I began writing books using my experiences to show and portray people with illnesses in historical fiction, fantasy, and horror.

My writings seek to highlight the darker realities of life,
and reveal their beauty.

I’ve worked and studied in both Europe and Asia. I have two bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Asian Studies and two minor degrees in History and Chinese language. I also have five certificates, most of which are in education and one in Digital Curation.

My love for history and museums has led me to get my master’s degree in World Heritage Studies in Germany of which I am nearly finished.
